History

Our honey production is based on traditions dating as far back as 1921. Beekeeping started as a family business that was developed for many generations.

The production of honey at Aulumgård started in 1921.

In 1996 Jan Jakobsen and Knud Hvam founded Jakobsen & Hvam A/S. Since then, the company has grown to become one of the largest honey producers in Scandinavia.

In 2001, a brand new and tailormade factory was built, and at the same time, the company achieved the BRC certification.

Processing and bottling is done by a skilled staff with a thorough knowledge of beekeeping and honey production. An up-to-date and flexible production plant with a daily capacity exceeding 30 tonnes secures that even the largest costumer demands can be accommodated.

Since 2008 Knud Hvam has not been a part of the owners. In 2010 Helle Reinevald became one of the owners with Jan Jakobsen.

In the summer 2011 the company changed its name to: Jakobsens A/S – and also changed the product name also to Jakobsens. This was to strengthen the competitiveness in Denmark and abroad and also to get a stronger brand.

In October 2012 the company’s co-founder Jan Jakobsen has decided to sell the company to CEO Helle Reinevald, who has taken over the company together with local Mid-Jutland investors.

Jakobsens supplies honey to the majority of Danish retailing. In addition, export has been established to major retail chains in Sweden, Finland and Great Britain.
