Organic honey
The beekeepers must ensure that the hives are placed so that the nectar gathered within a radius of 3 kilometres comes from organic crops.
The Danish regional veterinary and food administration centre has authorized Jakobsens to manufacture organic honey according to the Council Regulation 2092/91 of 24 June 1991.
The regional veterinary and food administration centre performs inspections on a regular basis to monitor if the necessary documentation from the beekeepers is available and if the organic honey is kept separate from all other honey.
The beekeepers must ensure that the hives are placed so that the nectar gathered within a radius of 3 kilometres comes from organic crops. Furthermore, regulations regarding bee feed, the prevention of diseases and the quality of the hives are to be observed.
The EU has authorized institutions to supervise that the rules of the producing countries are observed. Thus, the beekeepers abroad have been supervised by an institution authorized by the EU.
